Questions, answered.
Privacy
Does Sealcloak upload my photos anywhere?
No. The app has no internet permission, so it cannot upload anything. Your files are encrypted and stay on your phone.
Do I need an account?
No. No email, no phone number, no sign-in. Your pattern is the only key.
Can you see my files?
No. We have no servers and no copy of your files or keys. Everything is encrypted on your phone.
Do the photos stay in my gallery?
Adding a photo makes an encrypted copy in the vault. The original stays in your gallery until you delete it there, so you can check the vault copy first.
Getting in
What if I forget my pattern?
Tap “Use recovery phrase” on the pattern screen and type the phrase you saved at setup. Then draw a new pattern.
What if I lose my pattern and my recovery phrase?
Then nobody can open that vault, including us. There is no back door. Keep your phrase on paper somewhere safe.
Can I use my fingerprint?
Yes. Turn on fingerprint unlock in Settings. Your pattern still works too.
What is Coerce?
A second, harmless-looking vault with its own pattern. If someone forces you to unlock the app, draw that pattern instead.
It can also erase your other vaults when opened, but that’s off by default and needs you to type PERMIT.
Backups & phones
How do I move my vault to a new phone?
Export a backup on the old phone, copy the file to the new phone, install Sealcloak and import it with that vault’s recovery phrase.
What happens if I uninstall the app?
Its vaults are deleted from the phone. Backup files you exported earlier are kept and can be imported again.
Are backups encrypted?
Yes. A backup file is useless without that vault’s recovery phrase.
Is Sealcloak available on iPhone?
Not yet. Sealcloak is an Android app.
Pro
What does Pro add?
Unlimited vaults and files, plus disguising the app as another app with your own icon and name.
Will I lose files if I stop paying?
No. Everything stays and keeps working. You just can’t add more beyond the free limits.
