Release notes

What's new

Every version of Sealcloak, newest first. Updates arrive through Google Play. Because the app can't connect to the internet, it never downloads anything by itself.

Version 1.0.0 First release

The first public version of Sealcloak.

Vault and encryption

  • Every file encrypted on the phone with AES-256-GCM; each vault has its own random master key, protected with help from the Android Keystore.
  • 5×5 pattern lock of at least 6 dots, turned into a key with Argon2id. Optional fingerprint or face unlock.
  • A 9-word recovery phrase for every vault, or a sentence of your own.
  • Up to 3 vaults on the free plan, each with its own pattern and name; nothing shows how many exist.
  • After 4 wrong patterns, growing waits that changing the phone's clock can't skip.
  • Screenshots and screen recording blocked inside the app.

Files

  • Photos, videos, documents, audio, text notes and scans, with folders, search, slideshow, multi-select, move, copy and export.
  • Private camera that saves straight into the vault, and a document scanner that makes PDFs.
  • Secure sharing as a passphrase-locked package.
  • Encrypted backups by hand, or weekly or monthly to a folder you choose, and restore on a new phone.

Protection

  • Intruder photos: from the third wrong pattern in a row, the front camera takes a photo of each attempt, viewable only after you unlock.
  • Coerce (Pro): a decoy vault with its own pattern; optionally erase other vaults, off by default and needs PERMIT typed.
  • Erase after wrong patterns (Pro): off by default, needs PERMIT typed.
  • Calculator disguise (Pro): a working calculator; type your code and hold = for 2 seconds.
  • Custom icon (Pro): any picture and name on the home screen.

Privacy

  • No internet permission, no account, no ads, no analytics, no crash reporting.
  • Opts out of Android's automatic cloud backup of app data.
