Sealcloak vs Hide It Pro: an encrypted Hide It Pro alternative

Hide It Pro is famous for its disguise: it appears in the app drawer as a working "Audio Manager" that controls your volume, with the vault behind it. It hides photos, videos, apps and messages, and has more than 50 million installs. Sealcloak is narrower and stricter. Here's the comparison, without the marketing.

Quick answer

Hide It Pro is a Swiss-army knife: it hides photos, apps, chats and calls behind an Audio Manager disguise, with free cloud backup. Sealcloak only protects files, but encrypts every one of them with AES-256-GCM, has no internet permission and shares no data. Pick Hide It Pro for breadth and its classic disguise; pick Sealcloak for privacy you don't have to configure.

Hide It Pro details are from its Google Play listing and data safety section, November 2026.

What Hide It Pro gets right

The Audio Manager disguise is clever because it isn't fake: it really controls your phone's volume, so anyone who opens it sees a boring utility. Long-pressing the title opens the vault. It also disappears from the recent apps list and can hide its icon entirely, which makes it hard to spot.

It covers more than photos. Its listing includes hiding apps, private messaging and calls, private browsing, app locking and a secret chat, plus a video player that works with VLC and MX-style players and free cloud backup of your files. If you want one tool for every kind of secret on your phone, it's broad.

Where Sealcloak takes a different line

Sealcloak can't hide other apps or your chats, and it won't pretend to. It protects the files you put in it, and it protects them fully: every photo, video and document is encrypted as it's added, not just moved out of sight. There's no separate step to remember and no file left readable by mistake.

Its disguise is similar in spirit. With calculator disguise, the app becomes a calculator that really works; you type a secret code of 4 to 8 digits and hold the equals key for two seconds to open the vault. Or use a custom icon and name of your choice. Instead of an escape PIN, Coerce opens a separate decoy vault that looks real.

Keep them locked, offline

Sealcloak encrypts your photos, videos and files on your phone. No account, no cloud, no internet permission.

Data and permissions

Apps that hide calls, messages and other apps need broad permissions, and Hide It Pro is free and ad-supported. Its Play data safety section lists approximate location and device IDs shared for advertising, marketing and analytics. The same section says data isn't encrypted in transit and that there's no way to request deletion. Those are the developer's own declarations, and they're worth reading before you trust any app with your most private files.

Sealcloak asks for very little: storage access to add files and back up, the camera for its private camera and intruder photos, and fingerprint if you turn it on. It has no internet permission, so it can't send data even if it wanted to.

Found Audio Manager on someone's phone?

People often search for this. If you see an unfamiliar Audio Manager app, it may be Hide It Pro, but it could also be a genuine volume app. A vault on someone's phone usually means they want privacy, not that they're hiding something harmful. If it's your own phone and you don't recognise it, check Settings, then Apps, for its real name and developer.

Switching to Sealcloak

  1. Install Sealcloak, choose a pattern and write down the 9-word recovery phrase.
  2. In Hide It Pro, open the vault and unhide your pictures and videos so they return to the gallery. Decrypt any files you encrypted with its tool first.
  3. Add them to a Sealcloak vault and spot-check that they open.
  4. Delete the gallery copies and empty the trash; check the Downloads folder too.
  5. Remove the files from Hide It Pro and its cloud backup, then uninstall it if you don't need its app or chat hiding.

For hiding apps themselves, Android has options of its own; see how to hide apps on Android.

Who each one suits

  • You want to hide apps, chats and call logs as well as photos: Hide It Pro covers more ground.
  • You want a disguise that doesn't look like a vault: both work; Audio Manager and a working calculator are equally unremarkable.
  • You want every file unreadable without thinking about it: Sealcloak encrypts everything by default.
  • You don't want location or ad data leaving your phone: Sealcloak has no internet permission at all.
  • You want several separate vaults: Sealcloak gives you up to three, each with its own pattern, free.

Whatever you choose, make a backup you control and test it once. A vault is only as good as your ability to get your files back after a lost or broken phone.

Our take

Hide It Pro is the more versatile hider, and its disguise is a classic. Sealcloak is the more private vault: everything encrypted by default, no internet, no location, no ads. If your priority is that your photos stay unreadable and on your phone only, Sealcloak is the better fit.
